 This Friday we will be on minimum day schedule, school will be dismissed at 1:20.

 Congratulations to Shayne Middleton, Sarah DeSart, Michael Herrmann, Katelyn Heyl and Amy Ismail for their participation in the Nevada County Spelling Tournament.  All performed well with Amy Ismail finishing in 2nd place and going on to the the State Spelling Tournament in May.  Thanks for all your hard work.

If you are participating the in Krispy Kreme fundraiser, orders will be ready for pick up in A5 & A6 between 8:30 and 10:30 am.

Frozen yogurt will be for sale on Friday 11/17.

It's mandarin time again and orders are due tomorrow 11/17.
Student council will be selling delicious mandarins from Newcastle Ranch for $15.00 for a 10 lb.bag.  All proceeds benefit student activities. Students will be bringing home an order form today, all orders are due on November 17th and will be ready for pick-up on Monday, November 20th.
 
Sign the pledge to be smoke free!  The Great American Smoke Out is Thursday 11/16.  Students will be handing out treats by the bulletin boards in the sixth grade area and by the big gym during lunch on Friday 11/17.

Parents' Corner:
 
Parent / Student Survey:The California School Parent Survey will be going home with your student on 11/14.  This is a very important survey that will help promote better health and well-being among our youth, improve the school learning environment and combat problems such as drug abuse and violence. Also, your child will be asked to take the student California Healthy Kids Survey  (CHKS) survey.  Your child does not have to take the survey.  If you do not want your child to complete this survey, you must notify your school by signing and returning the consent/ withdrawal form.  Thank you for your participation!  The survey can also be accessed on our school website.
 
Holiday Free Shop: Community members in need are invited to come and shop for "nearly new" and gently used items.  Guests are able to shop for free or if they wish to pay we will be accepting cash donations for Kare Crisis Nursery.  Donations are also welcome, if you have gift worthy items for children or adults you can drop them off on Friday December 8th from 2:30-6:30 at Cottage Hill School in the Multi-Purpose room.  The Holiday Free shop will be held on Saturday December 9th 8:30-11:00 am at Cottage Hill School.

Winter Youth Basketball League:
Registrations OPEN for this fun youth development league for players in grades  2 - 8.
Separate girls and boys divisions. Now in its 23rd year.
Member of National Asscociation of Youth Sports and the Sierra Foothills Youth Basketball Conference.

Student Council: Coins for Kindness drive now  until Thanksgiving break. Bring in coins (or cash) to benefit those affected by the local fire crisis. Your first period teacher will be collecting the money. The class with the most total value of coins collected will receive a root beer float party courtesy of the Magnolia Student Council.
 
Yearbook:Help us create a memorable yearbook by submitting your photos of extracurricular activities. Our staff needs pictures of students with pets, students in clubs like scouts, lacrosse, or 4-H, and students taking instruction in dance, karate, or anything!
