Spirit Week:
September 7th through the 10th will be our first spirit week.  your first period class will get spirit points for each student and teacher that dresses up.  More details to come!

Students should not arrive earlier than 8:40 am, or remain on the campus later than 15 minutes after dismissal unless they are participating in a supervised activity.  Supervision will not be provided for students who arrive before or depart after these times.

Yearbook Orders

Picture retake day on Tuesday, September 21.  If you already had your picture taken simply return your original package on retake day.  If you missed picture day, this is your chance to get your picture taken.

Food Access Saturday:

Saturday September 11th,  will be the next United Way Food Access Saturday. The Food Access Saturday program was originally created to help working individuals & families who need help putting food on their table, but are unable to pick up food at local food distributions during the week. Since it began, the program has grown to encompass a larger population; welcoming others to the table. Through the Food Access Saturday program, anyone who needs food can pick up healthy groceries, including fresh produce. The program is open to all Nevada County residents who cannot make it to other food distributions Monday through Friday. United Way of Nevada County, in partnership with Interfaith Food Ministry (IFM) distributes food on the second Saturday of each month. Since its inception, nearly 3800 bags of food have been distributed to more than 1700 individuals and families. United Way of Nevada County strives to assure individuals and families in Nevada County are able to meet their basic need for food, emergency shelter and access to health care. The distributions take place at 440 Henderson Street, in Grass Valley, from 10am-noon on the 2nd Saturday of each month.

On April 29th, 2021, the FCC announced that on May 12, 2021, eligible households will be able to apply for the Emergency Broadband Benefit. The Emergency Broadband Benefit is a temporary FCC program to help households struggling to afford internet service during the pandemic. Eligible households will be able to enroll in the program to receive a monthly discount off the cost of broadband service from an approved provider. Also, if you have book or manga recommendations, please email them to [email protected] or stop in to write it down.The library is open for lunch daily so come on in.

Donors Choose library project: Ms. Holladay has started a project for getting updated displays for our library. Coming Soon...a project to grow our graphic novels collection too! Please visit www.DonorsChoose.org/ms-Holladay to see how a donation can help support our library.
 
Overdue books: There are currently 216 over due books at Magnolia Library! Ms. Holladay, our librarian, urges students to check desks, under beds, or even around classrooms for books that need to be turned in. Books may be returned to the office, ELA classrooms, or directly to the library.

Food Access Saturday:

Saturday September 11th,  will be the next United Way Food Access Saturday. The Food Access Saturday program was originally created to help working individuals & families who need help putting food on their table, but are unable to pick up food at local food distributions during the week. Since it began, the program has grown to encompass a larger population; welcoming others to the table. Through the Food Access Saturday program, anyone who needs food can pick up healthy groceries, including fresh produce. The program is open to all Nevada County residents who cannot make it to other food distributions Monday through Friday. United Way of Nevada County, in partnership with Interfaith Food Ministry (IFM) distributes food on the second Saturday of each month. Since its inception, nearly 3800 bags of food have been distributed to more than 1700 individuals and families. United Way of Nevada County strives to assure individuals and families in Nevada County are able to meet their basic need for food, emergency shelter and access to health care. The distributions take place at 440 Henderson Street, in Grass Valley, from 10am-noon on the 2nd Saturday of each month. 

REMINDER** All Parents, please update your information in Power School Prior to school starting, these forms must be submitted before school starts.  Immunization requirements MUST be met before school starts.

On April 29th, 2021, the FCC announced that on May 12, 2021, eligible households will be able to apply for the Emergency Broadband Benefit. The Emergency Broadband Benefit is a temporary FCC program to help households struggling to afford internet service during the pandemic. Eligible households will be able to enroll in the program to receive a monthly discount off the cost of broadband service from an approved provider. The first practice for the 2021 Cross Country season will be Thursday, August 26th.  We will meet at the outdoor lunch pavilion at 3:15 and be dressed and ready to run at 3:30 pm.  Please pick up an athlete permission packet from the office and complete the Google form by the 26th if interested.  Packets must be completed before you can practice.  Practices will be held Monday -Thursday from 3:30pm-4:45 pm, meet schedule TBD. Students:
Do you like to play sports? Do you want to be part of a team? Do you want to take part in making healthy choices? Come join Intramurals during lunch time. Our first sport will be Basketball. Coach Schumacher will have a table out during lunch time for sign ups and to answer any questions. Come say hello. Just a heads up..... If you are signed-up, there will be a Kick Off meeting soon. Welcome back everyone!
Cross Country:
The first practice for the 2021 Cross Country season will be Thursday, August 26th.  We will meet at the outdoor lunch pavilion at 3:15 and be dressed and ready to run at 3:30pm.  Please pick up an athlete permission packet from the office and complete the Google form by the 26th if interested.  Packets must be completed before you can practice.  Practices will be held Monday -Thursday from 3:30pm-4:45pm, meet schedule TBD. More info to come!

ATTENTION   7TH & 8TH GRADE BOYS VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS

If you are interested in trying out for Boys Volleyball, please pick up and complete an athletic clearance packet in the office. Packets need to be returned and approved before you can tryout.

Tryouts are Monday, August 23rd and Tuesday August 24th 3:30-4:30. Please be dressed and ready to go by 3:30.

June Counseling Newsletter

On April 29th, 2021, the FCC announced that on May 12, 2021, eligible households will be able to apply for the Emergency Broadband Benefit. The Emergency Broadband Benefit is a temporary FCC program to help households struggling to afford internet service during the pandemic. Eligible households will be able to enroll in the program to receive a monthly discount off the cost of broadband service from an approved provider. Food Access Saturday:

Saturday September 11th,  will be the next United Way Food Access Saturday. The Food Access Saturday program was originally created to help working individuals & families who need help putting food on their table, but are unable to pick up food at local food distributions during the week. Since it began, the program has grown to encompass a larger population; welcoming others to the table. Through the Food Access Saturday program, anyone who needs food can pick up healthy groceries, including fresh produce. The program is open to all Nevada County residents who cannot make it to other food distributions Monday through Friday. United Way of Nevada County, in partnership with Interfaith Food Ministry (IFM) distributes food on the second Saturday of each month. Since its inception, nearly 3800 bags of food have been distributed to more than 1700 individuals and families. United Way of Nevada County strives to assure individuals and families in Nevada County are able to meet their basic need for food, emergency shelter and access to health care. The distributions take place at 440 Henderson Street, in Grass Valley, from 10am-noon on the 2nd Saturday of each month.

Donors Choose library project: Ms. Holladay has started a project for getting updated displays for our library. Coming Soon...a project to grow our graphic novels collection too! Please visit www.DonorsChoose.org/ms-Holladay to see how a donation can help support our library.
 
Overdue books: There are currently 216 over due books at Magnolia Library! Ms. Holladay, our librarian, urges students to check desks, under beds, or even around classrooms for books that need to be turned in. Books may be returned to the office, ELA classrooms, or directly to the library.

The route list for the bus stops at Alta Sierra, Cottage Hill, and Magnolia is attached. Families must have already filled out a ridership contract in order for their students to ride the bus.

All Parents:  There is a new way to collect Box Tops for Education for Magnolia School.  All you need is your phone.  Download the All-New Box Tops app.  Shop as you normally would, then simply scan your store receipts to find participation products.  The app will automatically credit your school's Box Top earnings online.
