July 12, 2021
Dear students, parents/guardians, and community members:
I hope many of you were able to escape the heat to a swimming pool or the river this past week. It has been amazingly hot this summer. As we are anticipating new information from California Public Health about school opening this fall, I have received many concerns from parents due to the release of the school’s new guidance from the Center for Disease Control for school opening. As this document is stated as guidance, school districts are public-funded agencies and must comply with California Public Health, Nevada County Public Health, and California Office of Occupation Safety and Health Agency (Cal/OSHA) guidance in order to remain open for students.
The state of California has not released its guidance yet, but we are anticipating new guidance anytime this week. Regardless of the state’s guidelines, PRUSD will continue to plan to open in the fall of 2021 as planned, operating at full capacity. Our schedules will revert back to times prior to the pandemic. Those schedules can be located on the school’s websites.
I know this is not what many parents would want to hear about a month before schools open back up, but we will make sure students and staff are protected when we do open up. We will update you as more information becomes available, but in the meantime, we wish you a continued safe and cooler summer.
Attached below is the link for CDC’s guidance for COVID-19 prevention within schools updated on July 9, 2021.
Do not forget if you would like to participate in our summer wellness (lunch) program, lunches can be picked up at Cottage Hill Elementary School on Mondays between the times of 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
