PRUSD Families and Staff,
Furthermore, I know that many have been concerned about the impact of the proposed student vaccination mandate and related potential legislation; just recently, both Governor Newsom, Senator Pan, and Assemblymember Wicks announced that the COVID-19 vaccination would not be mandated for students or staff for the 2022-2023 school year. With this news now confirmed, we look forward to opening the school year with the assurance that this will not be yet another hurdle for families/employees to have to navigate to have quality education for all.
This summer PRUSD will be offering a summer school option for current 5th, 6th, & 7th-grade students who struggled with school during this school year. Response to Intervention through Support and Expectations (RISE), is designed to build students’ fundamental Math and English skills through engagement and enrichment. Course rotation will include an elective section based on teacher availability. Invitations and information will be posted and sent out this Friday for students who qualify for RISE.
Finally, we are looking forward to our many end-of-year celebrations that will recognize our students and engage all the traditions we have enjoyed at these gatherings pre-pandemic. Until we close this school year, I ask that we all continue our focus on students and their learning as we finish the school year strong.
