Overdue/Lost/Damaged Books

Students may check out up to six (6) books at one time, including class novels and textbooks. Circulating books are checked out for two calendar weeks and may be renewed up to two additional times. Class novel check out duration is determined by each teacher. Textbooks are checked out for the duration of the school year and can be returned at any time in the year. Otherwise, textbooks are due by the last day of school each year.

Once a book is overdue, an email notification will go out. There are no late fees for overdue books.

When a book is overdue for 60 days or more, it will be marked as lost and a bill for replacement will be emailed and/or mailed.

The library does allow for extended time to search for misplaced or lost books. Patrons are instructed to continue searching in vehicles, desks, bedrooms, or other frequented spaces before fees are paid. If a student is unenrolled, fees for lost books are due immediately.

Students or other library patrons who lose or damage library material, intentionally or accidentally, are required to pay replacement costs OR may elect to replace the lost or damaged material with an acceptable equivalent copy.

Intentional Damage

Mutilation of library materials is defined as the willful or reckless destruction of library materials by marking, underlining, highlighting, removing pages, cutting or tearing of pages, or causing damage or defacement to library material in any other way.

Accidental Damage

Unintentional damage of library materials is defined as damage by spilling of liquids or food, wetting due to weather, dropping, animal chewing, contact with animal bodily fluids or solids, or causing damage to library material in any other way that was not intentional.

In the case of lost or damaged library material, a student or library patron may elect to replace the material with an acceptable copy which must be given to the library.  The Librarian must approve the replacement item.  If an item is replaced with an approved copy, the patron will be forgiven of replacement charges.
