Lost or Damaged Book Policy
Students or other library patrons who lose or damage library material, intentionally or accidentally, are required to pay replacement costs OR may elect to replace the lost or damaged material with an acceptable copy.
Intentional Damage
Mutilation of library materials is defined as the willful or reckless destruction of library materials by marking, underlining, highlighting, removing pages, cutting or tearing of pages, or causing damage or defacement to library material in any other way.
Accidental Damage
Unintentional damage of library materials is defined as damage by spilling of liquids or food, wetting due to weather, dropping, animal chewing, contact with animal bodily fluids or solids, or causing damage to library material in any other way that was not intentional.
Replacements
In the case of lost or damaged library material, a student or library patron may elect to replace the material with an acceptable copy which must be given to the library. The Librarian must approve the replacement item. If an item is replaced with an approved copy, the patron will be forgiven of replacement charges.
Replacements can be new or used copies in good condition. General vendors for replacements:
If a patron elects to pay for the replacement in cash or by check, they will be accepted in the library.
Checks can be made out to Magnolia Library.
If a patron elects to pay for the replacement with a debit or credit card, please contact the Pleasant Ridge Union School District office at (530) 268-2800 to make the payment.
