8th-grade students - If you have any documents in Google Drive it is recommended that you download any documents you would like to keep. It can be to a USB drive (storage device) or a home computer (with parent's permission). If there are any Hyperstudio projects or ANY projects on our Magnolia server that you would like to keep please bring a USB drive (storage device) to download your items on. Google account and Magnolia server accounts will be disabled around June 8th. Thank you

Congratulations and thanks to students, parents, instructional aides, school secretaries and teachers for their help and participation in our 25th annual Renaissance Faire. The 7th grade class will be donating $768 to the Food Bank of Nevada County.

8th grade students: Today at lunch, Mrs. Potts will be in the quad taking song requests for the dance. Please prepare to suggest clean, fun songs that you would be happy to dance to. 

From the Library: Textbook check-in has started. Missing, textbooks, library books or class set books will effect end of the year activities such as graduation. All students with overdue books have received invoices.Your students' 1st period teachers have received complete lists of items still checked out. Encourage your students to turn-in textbooks and library books now. Textbooks range from $66.00 - $80.00. Lost or missing books, the school will need to be reimbursed. Textbooks from last year or 6th grade still missing will need to be reimbursed. 

 

8th Grade: Graduation dance permission slips are due on Friday June 1st.

All kinds of summer sports, classes and camps are available for your students. From basketball to water polo to volleyball, lacrosse, soccer and more! Register online at www.brrpd.org today. Camp Bear RIver is back for its 6th year and for older siblings, Camp Bear RIver Counselor-in-Training. The Bear RIver High School Pool is open in the summer to the public on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday Noon - 3:00 p.m, $4.00 per person. New camps include Mountain Bike Skills, Wilderness Survival Training and Susan Gouveia's Culinary Camp! Returning this summer are Art and Drama Camps! 8th Grade Parents: We need your help to make the last day at Magnolia a special one for our 8th graders!  Please go to the following links to donate items for a Continental Breakfast on their last morning at school and for the Dance that night. If everyone pitches in, it will be a perfect ending to their time at Magnolia :) Thank you in advance!

 
 
Current 6th Grade students (Incoming 7th grade students 2018/2019 ):
 All incoming 7th graders need to bring proof of Tdap booster shot (or valid medical waiver) BEFORE the start of 7th grade. Students that have not presented proof of compliance with California immunization laws will not be admitted to seventh grade.
 
  
7/8th Grade Family Life:

Rebekah Thompson a representative of the Living Well Medical Clinic of Grass Valley will provide the Family Life instruction.  Seventh graders will receive this curriculum in their science class from May 21-24.  Eighth graders will receive this curriculum in their science class from May 29-June 1.   You may contact Ms. Thompson at either 530.648.0227 or [email protected] for information on the curriculum.   Parents are always invited to observe classes at Magnolia.  Please schedule in advance. 

State law allows you to remove your student from this instruction. If you do not want your student to participate in comprehensive sexual health or HIV prevention education, please give a written request to the Magnolia office before this unit of instruction begins.

 

PTM:

We need to submit nominations for next year's PTM board. This opportunity is open to all the Magnolia parents. The positions needed to make a full quorum are: President, Treasurer and Secretary. Other positions can be fulfilled as well such as Vice President, Fundraiser Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator, Social Media guru and Committee members. 
 
*We will be meeting one last time this school year as a PTM Board to vote on who will fill those vacancies. It is Thursday, May 31st at 6:30 in the Conference Room.* ALL ARE WELCOME!

Yearbook:
Don't miss out! Order your yearbooks now! Yearbooks are still available to purchase online at jostens.com. $40 for a hard cover or $25 for a soft cover. Limited quantities are available so don't delay, the deadline for orders is May 31st.

Pop-Up Book Fair! Prizes-Popcorn-Books:
June 15th - June 25th, 12-8pm at the Lake Center Plaza next to Holiday Market, 10988 Combie Road.  All sales benefit Magnolia Intermediate School Library and Bear River Recreation & Park District. All items are brand new , suitable for toddler, pre-school, adult, young adult, middle school and elementary. 
  
Bus Circle: Please do not park or pull up in the bus circle at ANY time during the school day.
  

Parents: Please be prepared to show a picture ID when checking your student out during the school day.

Homework Club:
Tuesday / Friday - 8:00am - 8:45am in room A-1
Wednesday - 3:30pm - 4:15pm in room B-10
Thursday - 8:00 am - 8:45 in room A-4  most weeks.  Please check the bulletin and Magnolia calendar.
