Parents Corner:

Parents of Eighth Grade Students:

Families interested in attending Ghidotti are highly encouraged to attend our Virtual Information Night on January 7 at 6:30pm:
Ghidotti Early College High School is now accepting applications for the 2022 school year. Application deadline is January 29, 2021. Information and the application are available at
A note about this year: COVID has impacted just about every aspect of our lives and Ghidotti's application process is no different. Most years we screen applicants to make sure they're at grade-level (ready for 9th grade math, English, and Biology), but this year the usual measurements are either unavailable or unreliable. So, we're going to assume all applicants are at grade-level. If there are more applicants than spaces available, selection will be made through a lottery.

Nightly Check-In

Social-Emotional Support

Governor Newsom announced a regionally based stay-at-home order for periods of three weeks to try and limit the spread of COVID-19 in our state.  The stay-at-home order will be triggered on a region-by-region basis when the remaining ICU capacity falls below fifteen percent (15%).   Unfortunately, Nevada County has been lumped into a large Greater Sacramento region that includes areas with elevated incidences of positive COVID-19 cases. In those areas where the Stay-at-Home Order is triggered, the State is prohibiting private gatherings of any size, closing sector operations except for critical infrastructure and retail, and requiring 100% masking and physical distancing in all others.  The Governor reiterated that schools that have received waivers may remain open.  His staff later clarified that all schools that are currently open can remain open. Pleasant Ridge Union School District’s Schools will remain open for in-person and distance-learning instruction.

To be preventative, it was decided after the Winter Recess (Holiday), PRUSD will be transitioning to a modified instructional model for the first two weeks.  January 4th – January 15th instruction will be conducted only in a distance learning model to allow for a self-quarantine period of time for the entire learning community.  This means Mondays will be packet pick up days and check in with teachers.  Tuesday-Friday will be online direct instruction with your child’s teacher.  It is required for your child to check in with their teacher.  Other assignments will be provided for independent work.  Once again this is to allow for all of us to remain apart so when we resume back to our current model, we may not have increased cases or direct contacts of the virus.  Students will not be on campuses between the dates of January 4th – January 15th.

We will continue to keep you informed of developments related to COVID-19 if anything else changes.

Parents of Hybrid/Blended Students:

Please log in to your parent portal and read and sign the Parent Agreement. We are going into uncharted territories and we need your help. Everything that we have learned about the prevention of COVID-19 has indicated that we are only as strong as our weakest link. We, as a district, have worked hard to create systems that minimize the risks to our students and staff, but there may still be risk present. Please sign that you will take the following steps to keep the whole community safe and allow use to continue to offer in-person classes with our students. Daily Symptom Checklist

I/We will commit...

  • to complete the daily symptom check of my student before I place them on a bus or send them to campus
  • to notify my student's school if there are any health concerns and take the steps outlined in the Daily Symptom Checklist.
  • to sending my child to school with a mask and support the school in making sure all students are compliant in all safety protocols.
  • I understand that even with all safety precautions that are being taken, there is always the risk that exposure to COVID-19 may occur.

Thank you for supporting our schools.

Please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Griffin through google classroom or email [email protected]. Physical Activity Log (PAL): There will be an activity log put into google classroom and will also be available in hard-copy in the school office.  The PAL will be worth the majority of your grade.  25 Points for each weekly log. See attached. Students will be required to participate in moderate-vigorous exercise for at least 30-40 minutes five days a week. This will vary between required workouts posted in google classroom and student’s choice.
