Parents Corner:

United Way of Nevada County and the California CareForce (The charitable arm of the California Association of Oral and Maxilofacial Surgeons) will be offering free healthcare services on January 11 & 12 2020 at the Nevada County Fairgrounds in Grass Valley, CA. 

Where is the Clinic? 11228 McCourtney Road, Grass Valley, CA. When is the clinic? Saturday, January 11, 2020 and Sunday, January 12, 2020. What services will be available? Medical: General exams, physicals, and immunizations (flu shots) Dental: Dental screenings, x-rays, cleanings, fillings, and extractions Vision: Eye health exams, vision exams, and custom prescription glasses made on-site

What services will NOT be available? Dental: Deep cleanings, root canals, crowns, dentures, implants, or bridges

Is there any cost for these services? No. All our services are free.

How do I receive service? A limited number of wristbands guaranteeing next-day service will be distributed on the afternoon proceeding each clinic day. You can only receive a wristband for the next clinic day.  You MUST have a wristband to receive services. Grass Valley Area Residents – Friday and Saturday, January 10 and 11 from 4 pm  – 6 pm at the Nevada County Fairgrounds, 11228 McCourtney Road, Grass Valley; enter through Gate 4 and go to the  Main Parking Lot and then to Gate 5.  For more information please visit californiacareforce.org./patients/grassvalley

Magnolia Leo Club is holding a dog and cat food drive for Sammie's Friends. Please help us by dropping off dry or canned pet foods and pet toys to the front office. We will be collecting donations through December 20. Mrs. Randall

Saturday, January 11th, will be the next United Way Food Access Saturday. The Food Access Saturday program was originally created to help working individuals & families who need help putting food on their table, but are unable to pick up food at local food distributions during the week. Since it began, the program has grown to encompass a larger population; welcoming others to the table. Through the Food Access Saturday program, anyone who needs food can pick up healthy groceries, including fresh produce. The program is open to all Nevada County residents who cannot make it to other food distributions Monday through Friday. United Way of Nevada County, in partnership with Interfaith Food Ministry (IFM) distributes food on the second Saturday of each month. Since its inception, nearly 3800 bags of food have been distributed to more than 1700 individuals and families.


United Way of Nevada County strives to assure individuals and families in Nevada County are able to meet their basic need for food, emergency shelter and access to health care. The distributions take place at 440 Henderson Street, in Grass Valley, from 10am-noon on the 2nd Saturday of each month. For more information contact United Way at 274-8111 or [email protected].
 
Dress Code: Please make sure your student's clothing is meeting Magnolia's dress code. The dress code is in the student agenda. If you have any questions please feel free to call or check in with the office. Thank you.

U-Pick your own fresh, organic, seasonal produce and flowers every Tuesday from 4:30 to 6:30pm at the Food Love Farm<https://sierraharvest.org/children-connect-to-fresh-food/upick-at-food-love-farm/>, benefitting farm to school education for 9,500 students. Bring a picnic to eat on the farm with your friends and family. Harvest menu posted on Sierra Harvest's Facebook page weekly. Calfresh (EBT) welcome!

Cottage Hill Mistletoe Mall:  Magnolia students are invited to shop at the Mistletoe Mall today!  The Mistletoe Mall  is a student only shopping experience put on by the PTC. Our own volunteers shop sales, assemble, create gifts and set up a fun shopping center on campus for the students! Magnolia students have a reserved day and time to shop. The time is Friday, December 13th from 8-9am. Also, Magnolia families are invited to attend the FREE Community Pancake Breakfast at the CH MPR on Saturday, December 14th from 8:30-11:00am. In addition to free food there will be vendors for shopping and photo op with Santa.

Aly lead the team with 16 points, 3 rebounds and 2steals. Taryn was next with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 8 steals and Jenna followed with 6 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Great job Lady Rattlers!!

United Way of Nevada County, in partnership with Interfaith Food Ministry (IFM) distributes food on the second Saturday of each month. Since its inception, nearly 3800 bags of food have been distributed to more than 1700 individuals and families.

United Way of Nevada County strives to assure individuals and families in Nevada County are able to meet their basic need for food, emergency shelter and access to health care. Awesome win  for the 7th grade Lady Rattlers, 38-21 over Lyman-Gilmore.
Taryn lead the team with 23 points, 5 steals and 2 rebounds. Aly followed with 9 points, 3 steals and 3 rebounds. Jenna was next with 4 points and 8 rebounds. Sophia had 1 steal and 2 rebounds along with Monica that had 2 rebounds.

Saturday, December 14th, will be the next United Way Food Access Saturday. The Food Access Saturday program was originally created to help working individuals & families who need help putting food on their table, but are unable to pick up food at local food distributions during the week. Since it began, the program has grown to encompass a larger population; welcoming others to the table. Through the Food Access Saturday program, anyone who needs food can pick up healthy groceries, including fresh produce. The program is open to all Nevada County residents who cannot make it to other food distributions Monday through Friday. Taryn lead with 16 points, 7 steals and 2 rebounds. Followed by Aly with 12 points, 2 steals and 2 rebounds. Also adding to the win was Madi, Sophia, Maggie and Natalie with 2 points each. Isabella has 2 steals and 2 rebounds and Avelina helped with 3 steals. Great job Lady Rattlers!

Saturday, December 14th, will be the next United Way Food Access Saturday. The Food Access Saturday program was originally created to help working individuals & families who need help putting food on their table, but are unable to pick up food at local food distributions during the week. Since it began, the program has grown to encompass a larger population; welcoming others to the table. Through the Food Access Saturday program, anyone who needs food can pick up healthy groceries, including fresh produce. The program is open to all Nevada County residents who cannot make it to other food distributions Monday through Friday. United Way of Nevada County, in partnership with Interfaith Food Ministry (IFM) distributes food on the second Saturday of each month. Since its inception, nearly 3800 bags of food have been distributed to more than 1700 individuals and families.

United Way of Nevada County strives to assure individuals and families in Nevada County are able to meet their basic need for food, emergency shelter and access to health care. Last week Magnolia Students competed in the Nevada County Spelling Competition. It was a nail-biter, and our 7th/8th grade team won second place for their team effort. Gina Genovese had a perfect score, and went on to compete for the individual prize and tied for third place.  The team consisted of Gina Genovese, Carlie Harwood, Duke Yeagar, Ethan Holmes, and Parker Tice-Raskin.
The 5th/6th grade team also competed and held their own, but did not place in the top three. Alana Sauvageau only missed one word, and was in the semi-finals but did not make it to the final round. Team members included Alana Sauvageau, Jaimee Allen, Randy Grant, Jack Durham, and Shelby Garten. Congratulations to all for a job well done!

Fall Choir Concert
Date: 11/22/2019, 7 PM – 8:30 PM
 
Again, congratulations are in order for the 8th Grade Rattler Girls Basketball Team! Rattlers win (46-6) against Grass Valley Charter on 11/20 Selena Jensen was fast on her feet scoring 10 points, assisted by Ella & Gretta. Lilly followed with 8 points, Cassidy, Camy, & Savahanna each with 6 points, Gina & Sabrina each with 4 points, and Krissy with 2 points. Great job ladies. Go Rattlers!
 
Another win tonight for the 7th grade girls basketball, Magnolia vs GVC. 40-14. Taryn and Monica lead with 10 points each, followed by Aly with 8, Jenna with 4 and Madi, Avelina, Natalie and Sophia with 2 points.
Taryn also had 7 steals and 5 rebounds along with 4 steals for Avelina and 3 steals from Sophia.
 
Attention all Students if you played in band previously or would like to join band and learn an instrument, Mr. Richardson will be starting a new class Green Band next trimester.  We are especially looking for Trombone and Tuba players.  Please see Mr. Richardson this week for more information.
 
Yearbook needs a team photo of the cross country team. If you have one, please give it to Mrs. Massie.

Congratulations to the The 8th Grade Rattler Girls Basketball Team on their win (37-15) against 7-Hills on 11/19. Krissy Kelly was a force to be reckoned with on the court scoring 21 points, as Cassidy Craig followed with 6 points, Lilly with 4, Camy, Jillian, & Selena 2 points each. Gina, Sabrina, Selena, & Savannah were on top of the rebounds. Great job ladies. Go Rattlers!
 
The 7th Grade Rattler Girls had a  win for magnolia (43-27) against 7- Hills on 11/19. Aly had a whopping 24 points with 7 steals,Taryn with 8 points with 8 steals , 5 rebounds, Jenna had 8 points, Monica and Sophia both added 2 points and Audrey 1. Great job ladies!
 

This week the Mag Esports team competed against Ishi Middle School in Oroville. Teams 1 and 3 had some crazy and tough competition AGAIN. Team 3's battled to the end with even a little bit of overtime mixed in, but Ishi overtook them at the last minute. They were amazing! Team 2 help give Magnolia some points on the board. They are on a roll. In the end, we lost 2 to 1 but all had fun! Congratulations to all the team members! Our next matches will be after we get back from Thanksgiving Break with the opponent “to be announced”.
