Daily bulletin for November 4, 2015

Good evening Rattlers!

Wednesday we are on "A" Schedule.

The Harvest of the month for November is jicama.
Jicama is commonly known as the Mexican Turnip or Mexican Yam Bean. Many people do not know what jicama is and it, in fact, came in fourth place in the "most feared veggie poll"!  There is no cooking involved, eat it raw! Peel it like a potato.  There is no veggie with such a moist crisp crunch!  Enjoy your sample of jicama!

Congratulations to 6th graders Maddie Albee, Ryder Holcomb, and Amy Ismail, whose Cottage Hill/Magnolia team placed 3rd overall at the County Spelling Tournament! They were just 1 point away from 2nd place! Anna Hamilton and Jordan Foster also participated with Alta Sierra's team, and Maddie and Amy tied for 5th place overall individual! Great job Rattlers!

Girls Basketball:

The 8th Grade Lady Rattlers ending up winning their last two games of the season, in the NCAL Tournament, and both being come from behind victories. On Friday, the Rattlers defeated Forest Lake Christian with a 22- 12 victory in which the Rattler defense allowed 0 points in the first quarter, yet still trailed at the half by 4 points. They then shut out the Falcons in the third and fourth quarters!  Gabi Corralejo stepped up big offensively scoring 13 points and was a buzz saw on defense to lead Magnolia to the victory.

In the final game of the tournament, on Saturday, the Lady Rattlers again came from behind late in the game to defeat Pleasant Valley 33-29 to take 3rd place in the NCAL Tournament.  Katelin Holtz stepped up big scoring all 15 of her points in the second half.  Sami Giguiere also had 7 points and played a great game. Peighton Coffey was a standout with her hustle and defense.

Congratulations on a great season Lady Rattlers!!
